ECD Middle East signed a deal with a consortium featuring San Jose Constructora and Arabtec, for construction of the new Al Ain Hospital.
The $900mn hospital will replace the current one in the Al Ain area (about 160km from the capital), with work to be carried out over the next four years.
The new centre extends over an area of 315,000m². It consists of 719 beds, of which 484 correspond to general medicine, surgery, maternity and children’s room, 67 ICUs, 142 for medical rehabilitation and 26 for VIP suites and royal patients. It will also include 104 advanced specialised clinics, 17 radiology rooms for X-ray, 22 specialised rooms for endoscopy procedures and diagnosis orthopedics, specialised orthopedic units of sports medicine, a regional centre of excellence for rehabilitation medicine, the first dedicated stroke unit in the UAE, a high-tech cardiology unit, and a research and training centre for health professionals. The project also includes other type of facilities or non-health services; among them a logistics centre, a power plant of 60MW, a mosque, and an underground car park for 1,500 cars.
